For the development of technology intensive sunrise industries, which are extremely important and promising, the Ministry for Economics, Labour and Transport of Lower Saxony establishes state initiatives. Those join the relevant scientific facilities, companies and others players in a network.

Lower Saxony funds an office and allocates a subsidies budget for innovative projects.

Tasks of the state initiatives are:

• Information of the network partners about recent developments and trends as well as funding possibilities
• Initiation of cooperation and innovation projects at EU-, federal- or state level
• Public relations, location marketing for Lower Saxony

The regional health economy initiative -Life Science deals with the domains health management, biotechnology and biomedical engineering, in which the Lower Saxon research scenery is magnificently developed and Lower Saxony has several highly innovative companies at it´s disposal, which partly belong to the brand leaders.

Through its activities the BioRegioN wants to

• strengthen the network structures in the respective industries
• sustainably ensure and expand the competitive position of companies
• mobilize existing and open new innovation potentialities
• achieve an increased market and application orientation of scientific research

Therefore it advises industry players in questions of strategic development. The BioRegioN initiates and steers cooperation and consolidated projects and is committed to location marketing. Furthermore the BioRegioN advises and supports the Lower Saxony Ministry for Economics, Labour and Transport with its execution of tasks.
